Prime Minister & Cabinet, Unit 2

President Dave?

While everything went wrong at home David Cameron has been clocking up some air miles in recent weeks with a trip to the USA and his current tour to Asia. The trips themselves provide good examples for the idea that a ‘Presidential PM’ behaves as a statesman- going to Japan to drum up investment in Britain’s car industry and to gain access to her markets for our defence contractors.

However, Steve Richards in the Independent used the US trip to revisit the notion of whether or not David Cameron is Presidential or not. This is an ‘old chestnut’ of a topic but this article looks at it through the prism of coalition government (a question on Presidentialism hasn’t come up for a while so this is worth a look!)
