Labour’s Ideology

Ed Miliband has actually managed to make a speech that the media thought was good. I don’t think I thought that I would ever have the opportunity to type those words but yesterday’s offering from the Labour party leader seems to have gone down very well.

Miliband’s speech was not a tour de force of policy initiatives- in fact it was very light on specifics. It did however seek to reposition Labour ideologically- embracing the notion of One Nationism (a policy doctrine traditionally associated with the Conservatives).

There are lots of articles in the press today about this- here are the highlights:

The Independent suggests that this is the end of ‘New Labour’ that Miliband’s embrace of New Labour marks a new chapter in the history of Labour’s ideology.

Even the Telegraph has given Miliband credit for improving his image
